ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE (EDI)

EDI is the computer-to-computer exchange of intercompany business documents in a standard format. Instead of relying on paper, telephones, facsimile and the mail to exchange information, EDI trading partners exchange data directly between computers. Because of this, EDI reduces cycle time, increases information accuracy and reduces cost. Almost any business transactions can be handled through EDI.

JUST-IN-TIME

The process of managing supplier material flow is called Just-In- Time (JIT). By using JIT in our assembling process, we can ensure that product does not arrive too early or too late to slow down production. As a result, JIT reduces the customer’s inventory, and lead times, as well as increases their production cycle efficiency.

Here is how Astrex’s JIT program operates. Our product managers work with both the manufacturer and the customer to determine delivery requirements. They closely review forecasts and provide products to the customer on an “as needed” basis, preventing interrupted production flow.

Astrex has the ability to create bar code labels to meet the needs of our customers. Bar Code labels can be used for inventory control, shipping, and receiving. Astrex can print in color, and various font styles and sizes.

CONSIGNMENT INVENTORY

Astrex consigned inventory program affords our customers the ability to maintain bonded inventory. This inventory can be physically located in our warehouse, or at a customer’s facility. The inventory is owned and managed by Astrex until it is actually used. Automatic replenishment upon usage ensures that the desired inventory levels are maintained. This provides our customers with guaranteed availability of inventory without the associated carrying cost, as well as minimizing lead-times.

DOCK-TO-STOCK

Dock-to-Stock is a program by which specific quality and packaging requirements are met before the product is released. Pre-qualified product is shipped directly into our customer’s inventory. Dock-to-Stock eliminates the costly handling of components, specifically in receiving and inspection and enables product to move directly into production. Astrex is a military qualified, value added distributor, under Mil-Spec 790D, with inspection to Mil-I-45208. This qualification combined with our ISO 9002 certification ensures quality in the products we provide.
